Surah Juma (1-2)

يُسَبِّحُ لِلَّهِ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ ٱلْمَلِكِ ٱلْقُدُّوسِ ٱلْعَزِيزِ ٱلْحَكِيمِ ١هُوَ ٱلَّذِى بَعَثَ فِى ٱلْأُمِّيِّـۧنَ رَسُولًۭا مِّنْهُمْ يَتْلُوا۟ عَلَيْهِمْ ءَايَـٰتِهِۦ وَيُزَكِّيهِمْ وَيُعَلِّمُهُمُ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ وَٱلْحِكْمَةَ وَإِن كَانُوا۟ مِن قَبْلُ لَفِى ضَلَـٰلٍۢ مُّبِينٍۢ ٢
“Whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth is exalting Allah, the Sovereign, the Pure, the Exalted in Might, the Wise. It is He who has sent among the unlettered a Messenger from themselves reciting to them His verses and purifying them and teaching them the Book and wisdom – although they were before in clear error”.(62:1-2)
In these verses, the purpose of Prophet Muhammad’s mission and the fundamental methodology to achieve this noble cause has been explained. The Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) is appointed to meet the demands of attributes of Allah (SWT), enlisted in the verse mentioned above and the blessed verse explains the three underlying “principle elements” of Prophet’s (PBUH) call, to serve the purpose of his (PBUH) appointment as a prophet.
- Recitation of book (Quran)
- Purification of soul (Tazkiya)
- Teaching the wisdom (Taleem e Hikmat )
In this verse the underlying principle and complete methodology to provide cadre for the desired revolution (Islam) has been explained. When Prophet (PBUH) started his Dawah, dignified people sooner or later got attracted towards Quran and accepted it. As milk is skimmed to get butter from it, in the same way dignified people were picked out of Mecca’s population by following the way of recitation of verses of Quran, throughout a period of 12 years. Their Tazkiya was also done in the same way, i.e. through Quran. As Quran started to take deep root in their heart it healed them from all spiritual diseases. There are countless spiritual diseases of heart which can be named as “Hubbud Duniya (Love of this world) which is mentioned as a root of every evil حب الدنيا رأس كل خطيئة and to leave it is a key to one’s eminence (Fazilat). The love of the world leaving the heart and the love of Allah sinking into the heart is a sign of a perfect believer. Therefore, through the teachings of Qur’an, the views of these people were corrected, hence all the internal diseases including hubbe duniya was cut off from the root and all their evil deeds and virtues were vanished as the leaves of a tree vanish in autumn.
Teaching of wisdom (Taleem e Hikmat) doesn’t belong to ordinary people, it is area of specialization of Prophet’s (PBUH) education and training, and not everyone can become expert in that field, except who Allah wills.
“He gives wisdom to whom He wills, and whoever has been given wisdom has certainly been given much good. And none will remember except those of understanding” (2:269)
The verse makes it clear that the Quran was the tool for Dawah. It was the Prophet’s doctrine of revolution.
Hence if we are conveyor of Prophet’s (PBUH) mission and want to implement the law of Allah in this world then we should use Qur’an for Dawah. “Tazkiya” should then be carried out on the basis of Qur’an for the ones who accept it. We should rely on Qur’an for their character building and training as well.
